Celebrating Hope!

Easter Sunday at Grace Point

By Malcolm Tyree |  April 15, 2009

Grace Point set a new record on Easter Sunday as 200 people of all ages joined together to Celebrate Hope!

The day actually begin three weeks prior as the leaders of Grace Point were presented the opportunity to think outside the box in how to encourage the surrounding community to think about Jesus.  Easter is one of the key times in the year when people are responsive to invitation to church and Jesus.  As a result, we seized the opportunity.

For many people, Easter means Easter Eggs.  They often miss the true importance of the day, and focus on the fun of an egg-hunt.  Knowing this and that the landscape of West Texas isn't favorable to hiding eggs, we decieded to host a 5,000 egg dash.  As the dash was wrapping up, families and friends were encouraged to stick around as we had set up an outdoor stage.

On the outdoor stage, the GP band rocked out with songs of hope and promise.  The crowd clapped and sang along as they knew the songs.  As the band finished, Malcolm Tyree, lead minister, delievered a message of hope.  His message reminded us that our hope is not in Easter eggs, our jobs, our status, or anything else we can find or possess.  Our hope is only safe when it is placed in Jesus.

After the message, many responded to the call to place their hope in Jesus.

We also awarded prizes to guests in attendance, including a Nintendo Wii Game Console.

All in all it was truly a day of Celebrating Hope!
