Why Wait 'til Sunday?
By Malcolm Tyree | April 7, 2011
Grace Point Church is switching its worship gathering time to Saturday nights. We're convinced there is a growing number of people in Odessa unable to participate in church on Sundays due to work and activity schedules.
Times have changed! There was a time when Sundays were set apart for gathering with the church of God and spending time with your family. Today, we are faced with work, sports, recreation, and a number of other things that make being a part of a church gathering on Sundays difficult if not impossible.
When you consider the average husband in Odessa works 60 hours a week, Sundays become a key day to rest, recharge, and reconnect with the family. As moms serve in stores and eateries on Sundays, it’s difficult to make it to church and work. So why wait ‘til Sunday to gather as the church?
For us, gathering on Saturday nights at 5:05PM just makes sense! It’s one of the few “open-time” moments in our weekly schedule. So before you head out for the movies or that trip to the restaurant, take the time to encounter Jesus with Grace Point on Saturdays.
This switch is part of our commitment to continue to encourage those around us to take the next step of faith in their journey of faith in Jesus.
