Key Verses
Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus came and told his disciples,
"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Colossians 4:5-6
Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Our Basic Beliefs:
- We believe the Trinitarian understanding of God (Father, Son, Spirit), who is the creator, redeemer, and restorer of humanity and the rest of creation
- We believe that Jesus' incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension are the central acts of God's saving work for mankind
- We believe that the Spirit of God indwells in the life of each believer, empowering each to live a God honoring life and to serve the church as well as reach those out of church
- We believe that the Bible is inspired by God as His chosen record of who He is and how He interacts with humanity, and as such, it is necessary for our understanding and implementation of how to live as He desires
- We believe that humans were designed to be in relationship with God, but each has chosen to ignore and disobey God leaving all in need of salvation that only comes through faith in Jesus, the Son of God, and his work on our behalf
- We believe death is not the end of a human's existence, rather there is a resurrection after death that leads to eternal life or damnation, depending upon one's relationship with Jesus
- We believe that someday the world as we understand it will come to an end. This will coincide with the return of Jesus, which is foretold in the Christian Scriptures and is also the time of the judgment for all.
- The Activity of God - we believe that God is the first mover and that he must be active in all things for his kingdom to advance (John 6:44 & 14:6)
- The Family - we know that the family is the central element for faith to grow and be shared (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
- The Transformation of the believer - we experience transformation as Christ-followers (Romans 12:2)
- The Inspiration of God - we are inspired by God with gifts, abilities, and ideas that are not for our own gain, but for others (1 Peter 4:10)
- The Cooperation of believers - we believe the kingdom of God is best demonstrated in the cooperation of believers and churches (John 17:21)
- The Togetherness of life - we've experienced life best when we do it with others (Acts 2:42 and Romans 12:15)
- The Acceptance of all - we embrace people regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious background, or past failures because we believe that God desires all to come and know him and shows no favoritism, but rather looks for the broken-hearted (2 Peter 3:9, James 2:1, Psalm 51:7)
- The Multiplication Mandate - we are committed seeing the kingdom of God advance (Matthew 28:18-20 & Acts 1:8)
- The Stewardship of resources - we see the resources available to us as things we will give an account for, particularly with regards to how we have used them to point people toward Jesus (Matthew 25:14-46)
